Overcoming Anxiety
Good Morning,
Today I will be sharing some tips on how you can conquer anxiety. Feelings of anxiety are normal, having been experienced by everyone. How we cope with these feelings will sometimes be the difference between a win and a loss - the lesson being: do not let your anxiety inhibit your progress.
It is easy to say, "just stop being anxious", but we all know things are not so simple. There is no guarantee that these tips will eliminate your anxiety, however, they will at least reduce the noise in your mind and help you divert yourself in the direction of productivity.
Find The Cause
Finding the root of your anxiety is the first step in overcoming it. By identifying the source of the problem, you can then find and test possible solutions. If there are certain situations which specifically cause your anxiety, you will no longer approach them unprepared - which goes a long way over time.
2. Socialise
Whether it be with friends, family or colleagues, socialising stimulates the release of oxytocin - which has a calming effect, lowering stress levels. This leads to lower anxiety levels, helping you clear your mind and move forward.
3. Keep a Journal
Journaling is one of the best ways you can lower your anxiety levels over a prolonged period of time. It has been proven to reduce stress and mental distress as a whole. By journaling, you gain more insight into your personal growth, allowing you to identify anxiety-causing triggers and unhealthy thought patterns.
4. Take A Minute To Clear Your Head
Provided you have a moment, taking a small time-out to clear your head can be beneficial in reducing your anxiety levels. You may find that meditating or listening to music during this time works for you - if not, there are numerous relaxation techniques you can test to find your fit.
5. Focus On The Controllable
A common cause of anxiety is the obsession with trying to control the uncontrollable. Rather than straining your mind, focus only on the factors you are in control of. Once you accept the reality that some things are just out of your hands, you will find that things are not as difficult as they seem whilst the path to your goals reveals itself.
"Anxiety isn't you. It's something moving through you. It can leave out of the same door it came in." ~ James Clear.
